Does Muay Thai have grading system?
Traditional Muay Thai does not have a ranking system, which means that it does not have belts eithers. Fighters do wear traditional armbands – called praciat or prajead – but they don't symbolise a rank, they're just symbolic pieces of equipment and nothing more.
The IMAES Muay Thai Grading System
Students must complete 9 levels of training, after each of which they will receive a certificate. These levels are called 'Khans' and each is colour-coded with a coloured border around its icon.
Muay Thai, as it is practiced in Thailand, does not have a belt or ranking system the way Karate, Taekwondo or Judo do. Like western boxing, the sport of Muay Thai does not confer ranks to an athlete but let their fight records speak for themselves.
